So if SWIM was to contine her extraction method

140-120g bark
140-120ml naptha

per gallon jar.

if she was 2 take the cumulative pulls. (all 4) around 2 liters of naptha
and then evap it to les then half size. and was THEN to split it into 3-4 smaller jars for the freezer. would that not create better yeilds, more surface area. more space for sice to form.

im just trying to asertain wether or not this is a good thing to experiment with.

i know alot of people put there individual naptha pulls in the freezer. but swim have been getting good results with evap + freeze percip.

so afrer evaping and freezing. would it be worth it to evap more and thow it back in the freezer. or just to recyle the solvent from there..

any expereince is grateful apreciated Smile

you could always evap first and ask questions later: I find it quite reassuring once you've got a bunch of whatever quality, to re-dissolve it in hot naptha, making a supersaturated solution and then freeze percipitate it out to clean it up. Gives the added advantage of letting you try smoke some of whatever quality in the meantime too.

SWIM freeze precipitates in a large glass baking dish which has more surface area that jars. It is also easier to scrape out of the pan.

As for separating it, there should not be a difference because it has to do with the concentration not the actual volume.

Kind of wondering the same thing myself.

We would need to know how much DMT say 1 litre of freezer temperature naptha would hold, as opposed to 4 x 250ml amounts, if indeed there is a difference.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

There is not much difference. The important factors in successful freeze precipitation are solvent solubility, concentration of spice in the solvent and temperature of the freezer.

Solvent solubility cannot be controlled for unless solvent is changed.

Concentration of spice in naphtha is critical; too dilute and spice won't precipitate, Dividing say 1l of naphtha to 4x250ml does not change the concentration, so in this respect it won't help. On the other hand, naphtha evaporation increases spice concentration and makes it easier to precipitate.

Temperature will be affected however. 1l will take more time to cool down uniformly, so dividing it in four 250ml portions will help it cool faster. The alternative to dividing the total naphtha is to just leave it for longer time in the freezer.

SWIM starts of with a 50ml then decreases each pull by 10ml. This is with 100g bark. He then places the first 3 pulls all in the same jar to freeze, except the 4th pull which he uses to see if it's time to switch to the mighty black hole that is heated Xylene. With this he follows the same method but starts at 25ml and decreases by 5ml. These must be evaporated Sad.

SWIM think it's better to get more saturated solvent first off without having to evaporate as it's pretty wasteful. But if SWIM isn't happy with his first collections he will then evaporate.
