Is this an ok way to cut up and dry Cacti? Options

I want to dry my cacti, but I also want to remove the outer thin skin and the inner core. Instead of cutting the cacti lengthwise from the core and then removing the outer skin from each individual piece, can I cut the entire thing into like 1 inch thick stars and dry them out and then removing the outer skin and inner core?

I'm assuming it will be fine, but I want to make sure I am not overlooking something.

Cutting them lengthwise I thing is best, are you planning to consume the dried powder? Make a Tea? Or extract?

1 inch thick doesn't dry that fast (can take weeks), 1/4 inch thick is better (couple days)
removing skin after they are dry is very hard to do, though I have no idea why anyone would want to do that
cores are easy to remove when the stars are part way dry, just press on the woody part and it comes out easy.

I'm gonna try Ron's d-limonene tek for the first time.

Well, the reason I wanted to do it the other way is because it seems alot easier then cutting it in long strips first. Maybe I am wrong, that is why I am asking.

I have an Excalibur dehydrator, so I can dry them fast no matter which way I cut them.

I always have cut them lengthwise, dried, powdered, and consumed with some water. For an extraction I don't think it matters, I would probably get rid of the thorns to make filtering less painful.

You are my fucking hero if you can drink powdered cactus.

The last time I powdered some cacti, I filled up a pint jar with it. I finished half of it by trying to get it a little damp and roll it into balls and slam it down. Definitely one of the worst experiences of my life. I had to stop at half of the jar because I couldn't take it anymore. Almost threw up every time I swallowed. Stuff made me constipated too.

That experience is what made me look into extractions. I can't wait to try this d-limo tek.

the paste balls are best if minimal rehydration is pursued

excess water just makes it more of a mess to swallow and keep down vs more solid less volume past balls

paste balls are my preferred entheogenic tool

What do you mean by paste balls?

Like a resin or something that includes the whole active part of the plant?
