So it temps you with colourful lovely visuals in light doses. Saying to try it again... Then you take more and it shows you a far away land ... Take more!!! Then it greets you with kind entities reaching out to grab your hand... More still. It shows you entities that can communicate with you in a language which you don't know but somehow can understand, telling things about you maybe you never knew!! It makes things random so the next time you try it you see something different.. More still it hyper warps you to what seems distant planets with odd creatures... Then to keep you on your toes it throws in an ego death and birth...

Cool stuff.. I guess it's a mistery as to what DMT really is meant for... I say we research it MOAR!!!! Very happy

I would agree that these substances could be used as a defense mechanism for plants, except that DMT is found in pretty insignificant amounts in most plants especially in the fruits of those plants, which is what an animal or human would most likely try to eat.
As well as being the seed bearing part of the plant.
The highest concentrations we know of are in root barks, so unless it is some sort of insecticide I don't see how it could be beneficial to have a non orally active substance concentrated in the roots as the defense mechanism.

Whatever it may be, it sure is nuts.... (Ancient ayahuasca proverb)
'Little spider weaves a wispy web, stumblin' through the woods it catches to my head. She crawls behind my ear and whispers secrets. Dragonfly whiz by and sings now teach it.'

What ever DMT is, does, or wants we have it. We use it. We know it. And it sure is a nice way to spice up a mountain stroll -eh Felnik?

A neuroelectric amplifier. It's strange how different it is for everyone. Up to 10-12mg I really don't get any visuals at all aside from increased clarity and the occasional waviness. BUT it's like a current runs through my body, and my hearing becomes extremely acute to where sometimes I can follow the collision of sounds into a single wave entering my ears, though I can notice other waves passing into my body more subtly if I close my eyes. Still it's not quite visual, more like sensing. Then again sometimes I'm totally distracted from that and tend to make beautiful associations or attain an state of non-thought for a bit and just let the bliss pass through me. Inching higher I can actually sort of feel like my processing system is about to overload, like some sort of inner vacuum of activity is pulling my conscious literally inwards, though I've still been dipping my toes with this sort of state Confused . Still a bit hesitant to experience full circuit overload.

Ok. So if it's not a defense of the plant. Why do cane toads give DMT slime? To make us high? It's for the animal predidtor that eats the toad and trips out and scares the shit out of the animal and the animal will not try it again.

About mutation. I have a story for you.
Theres a friend who had a farm with horses. The horses would eat this apple tree. The apple tree would suffer every year because the horses would eat all of the fruit and all of the leaves. So the owner put a fence around the tree. The horses could still eat the tree over and through the fence. Time goes on and the horses stopped eating the tree one year. The owner wondered why. As he looked closer, the apple tree had mutated and produced thorns. The tree grew happy with no more horses eating it. Smile

Whatever the reason for DMT I think it is a beautiful thing and I am happy we all enjoy it!

This is actualy quite interesting , it happens in national parks over here when giraffes eat to much in a certain area the acacia trees become bitter making them move on to the next patch.I've always wondered exactly how the trees signal each other.

I've also thought of the psychedelic experience sometimes revealing a sort of programming network for conciousness or reality for that matter , kind of like a behind the scenes view of a slowed down version of whats actualy happening at a billion frames per second to create ordinary reality....

I,m on a quest for a better understanding of this stuff
It in no way takes away from my amazement and awe of it.
The beautiful mystical nature of it is not lost on me .
The way that it morphs nature is still one of my most
Favorite things of all time.

Imagine for a moment that some of the crazy visuals are in fact
Macro programs of some kind , How bout the craftmanship ?
What made it ?

I believe we all need to pay more attention in there to try
To see what's actually happening.

I m suggesting that some of the scenerios we encounter are
Automated loops of some kind. The only purpose I can come
Up with is its a very sophisticated distraction to keep us
Transfixed long enough to gather information .

It's pretty insane but much more interesting to me than
Some if the nebulous new age explanations I see quite often .
The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

Ok here's an idea. It's the plants way of scaring us to not consume the plant!

Or it's the plants way of communicating with us. They have evolved along side of us since day 1 so if some can evolve ways to poison the animals that eat it, they can also evolve ways to connect to us. Plant teachers are reaching out to us, just look at all the wonderful meds they give us. Let's all embrace these teachers with open arms and mindsVery happy

I have noticed this 'program' on mushrooms many times. Everything will seem to be digital which is something that metaphysics professor Thomas Campbell (youtube channel) talks about often. This guy is great, he's been studying out of body for about 50 years and can seamlessley travel his concious on several levels at the same time. Most of what he talks about ring true in my head. But he does say that psycotropic drugs are just a crutch.

When I smoke DMT I definitely get a sense that I'm running a program; I can even sense how the time component and the mechanics of the experience are interlinked. You mention the idea of it being a hall of mirrors... In my last journey, the thought that came to me was, "enter the infinite echo chamber." the universe and everything else in existence is the ultimate echo chamber. And the DMT experience seems to be a scaled down model of that.

As far as the cosmic security issue goes: as mentioned with the cane toads, I think it's unsurprising that evolution would endow so many species with the worlds most potent hallucinogen- that's a great deterrent. The fact that a species came along that has a use for this substance- probably not what nature was expecting. But all the most interesting things in evolution happen as a result of flukes like this.
