need help identifying san pedro cactus Options

Hi

I bought a Cacti a few years back in a grocery store. I liked him even just as a house plant but had already read up some and he looked like he could be a san pedro and they are often sold for decoration throughout the us at nurseries and sometimes in common stores like mine was.

I have not found a way to definitely identify him and from what I gather there are many that look allot like one, some however can make you sick and contain no mescalin.

Can anyone give me a definite way to identify a san pedro? will I have to post a pic? I was hoping maybe there was a dead give away maybe the flower? Looked online the flower matches the images for a san pedro wanted to make sure there aren't similarities there to other cacti.

He was a foot tall when I got him and I've nurtured him well to a little over four feet and he has flowered once this past summer. I'd hate to harm the guy just to try and find out the hard way. I'm actually less concerned with me getting sick pointlessly than harming my handsome cacti.

Also wanted to see if I can root a top cutting and start a new one so I can still have a flawless handsome fellow to admire later.

ideas and thoughts are much appreciated.

Namaste

I'm fairly certain that's not a trich. Though it is a lovely cactus.

The flower is indeed similar, but from my point of view, san pedro has larger flowers.
It is clear from the "sucked in" ribs, however, that this is not a san pedro.

edit: I find it interesting that the flower appeared that low!

figured the smaller flower might have to do with the smaller cactus but guess not. It opened overnight and closed after sunrise. well still don't know what it is guess I'll never know.

Simply for information. If you all someday solve to divide your cactus on two parts, that try on taste small bit it. If this "active" cactus, that its flesh will very bitter because of alkaloid. I compared L.W., S.P and one more unknown me cactus, look like S.P., but bigger that it. So here is - unlike the first two, an unknown cactus was without bitterness absolutely! Now I think that this was some Cereus...

Yip definitely a Cereus.
They grow everywhere here in Cape Town.

birthing golden vibrations,
that echo through folds of space & time,
ferry my soul closer to God

A hairy flower would mean it is a trich, but it is not, so it is a cereus.
