SWIM found that SWIY will end up with much better crystals if SWIY just leaves the container to sit after mixing FASA with acetone containing freebase. If SWIY shakes the container, crystals immediately precipitate out with considerable impurity. If SWIY leaves the container a day or two, much larger, clearer crystals form.
Do not stir or shake, as SWIY cannot unshake. This is the advice SWIM got during a dream, he moaned it out in his sleep and another SWIM recorded it and let me hear it. He may be crazy.

SWIM completely agrees. There's a picture in another thread somewhere that swim posted that shows exactly the result...a really sticky and yellow precipitate all over the sides. SWIM just washed it out with water, but he still hasn't freebased it yet, mostly because they'll probably be really really dirty.

As another SWIM said it is like adding sugar to tea, only when you stir the sugar it drops out. SWIM would wager most people will shake or stir if they don't know not to. Once SWIY stirs or shakes the result is irreversible. Do not stir or shake, that is SWIM's advice he got in the dream.

SWIM always washes his container with water and uses the water when making freebase. This should be a huge problem with a decent scraping tool. Scraping the sides while in the solution will cause the precipitates to snow down quite fast. For SWIM, the initial precipitation's crystal size is of no consequence, as a good acetone wash or two followed by oven drying will rock them up quite nicely.
