In days, Bolivia's parliament will decide whether to revive plans for a massive highway that would slice through a protected natural park at the heart of the Amazon -- but indigenous communities are standing firm and have called on us for help.
Last year we supported these brave communities and together forced President Morales to sign a law that pledged to preserve the TIPNIS territory forever. But the ruling party is leading a counter-offensive to overturn the law and pave the way for rampant exploitation and deforestation -- bowing to pressure from big Brazilian investors.
All that the indigenous communities fought for is under threat and they are calling for our support again. If enough of us stand with them, together we can defeat road plan for good. Sign the petition on the right to save the TIPNIS park and then spread the word -- indigenous parliamentarians will deliver our global message straight into the crucial debates next week.
hoping that every little bit helps
