hey guys this is my first post. I've just recently attempted my first extraction with no luck. I've been curious about this for a while and with no luck extracting myself..... if there is anyone in the las vegas area that could be of some assistance awsome:idea: refering to what i did wrong of course

What went wrong?

In my final steps i took the top layer and put it in a glass pan to evaporate but it left alot of brown residue?? not yellow or white like the pics i saw

You pulled some of the base mixture. This can easily be fixed with recrystallization. Next time, be more meticulous with your pulls.

so is it still ok to smoke?

Definitely not. Recrystallize it. We have techniques on how to do this in the Wiki. It's really easy. Remember, health = wealth.

I usually put my solvent into an intermediate collection vessel and then decant from that a little while later, if there is anything suspended in it it will settle and decanting is easy.

Freeze precipation is a better bet for initial pulls (in my opinion). I save evaporation for later on if I want to grow prettier crystals.

Did any of the bottom layer get mixed with your solvent(top layer)?
