If you haven't seen it yet, you guys should check out this movie! Wow, what ride! I felt like I was holding my breath the entire time lol. I've never been affected like that after a movie since The Ring. I saw it late last night and was genuinely nervous about the thought of going to sleep, leaving some lights on in my apartment and shutting the closets- (I hate partially-open closets). My wife didn't even want to go to sleep, she had to watch some South Park to get it off her mind.

This movie has it all: dark surreal creepyness, terror, paranormal investigation, Astral Projection/Out-of-Body Experiences. Saw meets Paranormal Activity.Twisted Evil

Being a fairly proficient Astral Projector, after seeing this movie I actually felt inspired to start practicing this again, yet slightly afraid to. Mixed feelings I guess.Rolling eyes

Anyways, go see it! And if you have, lets discuss.Very happy What did you think of it?

I've always been a fan of decent horror (harder to find recently) and Insidious was one of the few new genre films I liked, and it shouldn't get lost in the shuffle of many mediocre movies nowadays.

Pros: Good atmosphere. Some genuinely creepy moments (I specially remember the brother trying to fall asleep, and looking at his comatose sibling's bedroom across the hallway). A nice job putting reality in question.
Cons: Goth makeup in entities, some of James Wan's fetishes and the physical fight of the father with the demon's bouncer. But that might be just me.

But again, it has a few nice gems hidden. Also, it is on topic Smile

I thought that was kind of off too. Maybe they did that so viewers less familiar with dreaming and out-of-body travel could relate to it more than a non-corporeal psychic energy battle. Wink

I liked it, but I found it to get a bit "cheesy" near the end, seemed like they blew the budget in the beginging and scrambled to try keep the production value upo. but yeah it gave me the chills.

Without trying to give too much away:
Something that is pretty interesting is that I once went so deep/far during a DMT trip, and the place I went to was A LOT like "The Further" but I had seen the movie prior to this. But yeah the similarities were remarkable.

First half of film made me jump A LOT!
The trees spoke to me through the wind. The more I listened, the more they spoke.

I wanted to like it, but it seemed little more than a poorly executed collection of scenes from better movies - Poltergeist, The Exorcist, The Entity, Pan's Labyrinth, etc. And even bad movies like Amityville. I'll commend the writers on at least being wide ranging in their slavish plagiarism.
Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon.

I respectfully disagree.Wink I found it to be a terrifyingly effective improvement on the old, and the Astral Projection was a creative twist.
