So the other day a friend and I went to a rock shop and bought some crystals and rocks, etc, and the woman who owned the place was telling me that they had metaphysical, or healing properties, etc, whatever you want to call it, and began telling us what each kind of rock was suppose to do what. Now I've heard of all this stuff before and I'm sure a lot of people think it's nonsense, but I can kinda see how it could be possible and I'm not so quick to write it off. So I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the matter? I know there are a lot of well-informed people here, and by that I mean intelligent, as well as open minded, but not so much that you're foolish. (What's the saying? You don't want to be so open minded that your head falls out? Lol.)

I guess the reason I think it could make sense is because it took a great energy to make these things, thousands, maybe millions of years of compression.. Well I don't really know how much time, I'm not a scientist.. But anyway.. And they're so beautiful. They're obviously meant to be enjoyed for their beauty. And the way I look at it, all is one energy expressing itself in an infinite number of ways. Energy is constantly flowing all around. Our body is an energy field, as well as each rock/crystal. Our thoughts along with other peoples thoughts around us are fields of energy. Emotions are fields energy, and so on.. All different forms of the same energy. And maybe the rocks amplify energy when someone appreciates them, and help people manifest/attract things into their life?

Anybody have any personal experiences to validate such notions or is it all just bologna?

There is mention of how this works in a recent book I read (can I remember what one it was?? one of the popular psychedelic books anyway). It mentioned something to do with how it channeled light (both visible and non-visible) because of the [molecular?] structure of crystals.

However, the other reason for their effectiveness could be their colours on the psyche of those nearby combined with knowledge handed down through generations on the effectiveness of crystals. In which case, if people really believe the crystals have power, then I think that's reason to say they do indeed have some kind of power.

This is definitely true to my belief they definitely posses power and energy, And one thing i was always taught and that was to wash any rocks or crystals you get from someone, because that person could of have bad energy bad aura and its all over your stone, so always make sure to clean and purify your stones in some salt water.

..the neurotransmitters in our brains (like dmt, serotonin etc) also crystalize in he right conditions..maybe our thoughts are made of moving crystals...

Crystals like quartz have the ability to store information in the form of vibrations. This is the basis for how many watches function. I suppose the question becomes how effective the crystals are at storing information, and how easy to retrieve this information is, and how useful it would even be just because it was stored in the crystal.

Sure I have alot of personal experience working with crystals, especially quartz..I can tell you crystals do indeed have special properties. I cant prove it to you or explain how exactly it all works..I dont care to prove it though. Drink a cup of ayahuasca and stick some quartz over your chakra points and see for yourself.

I have an alter in my living room with tons of crystals..nice terminated points and crystal balls.

They dont call them "crystal radios" for nothing..they have been using quartz in radios for a long time.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I don't expect anyone to be able to prove it or explain how it works, but I certainly believe, and just wanted to see what the consensus was. I'm glad others believe also. If anyone has anything more to add, please feel free. I'm looking for as much valid info as I can find on the subject.
