Talk To Frank - what a joke... Options

It's like the Uk's shit (and biased) version of erowid. I would never visit it if I wanted any info on drugs... Any way, here is the excerpt for DMT:

http://www.talktofrank.com/drug/dimethyltryptamine

My favorite quote:

"Like drinking and driving, driving while high on DMT is illegal –you can get a heavy fine, be disqualified from driving or even go to prison."

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Is that even possible?! I swear they just get some clown who has no idea what he is talking about to put these tasty tidbits of data together Rolling eyes

or, they hire real scientists and then ignore them when they present results and opinions not wanted by the government.

A few years ago we had a serious problem with weed contaminated with silica, i know of several people who tried to contact "Talk to Frank" to get this info on there website as it was a health risk, nothing appeared. Chocolate teapot comes to mind.

I hear you on both counts. I have been unfortunate enough to have purchased a bag or two of that silica laced crap. It wouldn't surprise me if the government weren't in some way connected to that, trying to make it seem much more dangerous than it actually is.

It's sickening really. They try to downplay the (quite real) spiritual properties of Spice, and then compare driving on DMT to drink driving! Talk about misleading information. How the hell could anyone drive while in the midst of a DMT trance? This bit is also blatant mis-information:

"Can you get addicted to DMT?

As with LSD, there is no evidence that DMT is addictive but tolerance may develop rapidly so that with repeated use a higher dose is needed to get the same effects. The tolerance probably goes back to normal quite quickly after stopping taking it for a period."

Ummmm, I have smoke Spice daily before, and have noticed NO tolerance what so ever. "Probably" says it all, they haven't got the foggiest idea, and yet are displaying much of this as fact. It is also ridiculous comparing DMT to LSD - I mean, honestly that is like comparing a bicycle to a fighter jet. I am upset and disappointed with our government for spreading such lies and bullshit all the while allowing the use and sale of two of the most toxic drugs to go on unabated.

They need to get Professor Nutt back on the case to set things straight IMO, I was so impressed when I heard his opinions, and so disgusted when I heard the governments response to his suggestions. It saddens me that our youth have this pack of lies to refer to when looking into responsible drug usage, all they get is spin and fear mongering.

I am not sure we could lump Talk To Frank and Erowid together!!! That is unless there’s something I haven’t realised and Erowid is a US govt creation Very happy

Fair enough, I wouldn't really lump them together either, but TTF does try to pass itself off as a similar entity, no?

I might call their help line and give them some grief for misinformation...

In the sense that the site is more aimed at harm reduction than most government anti-drugs projects you could say it is like Erowid, but that is about as close as it gets! Talk To Frank is a source of dumbed-down information and is something of a walled garden. Erowid is well researched, easy to make additions or corrections, has many links to sources of in-depth information both on– and off-site and is generally considered the go-to place for decent, reliable information and experience reports about pretty much any substance.

Talk To Frank is good for nothing but manipulating the minds of the young and/or ignorant who won’t look elsewhere for proper information.

As for the ridiculousness of their DMT page! Hahahahahah. Yes it is rather silly.

Quote:
What are the effects of DMT?

The effects of DMT include:

• Hallucinations;
• Feelings of time and movement speeding up or slowing down;
• Distortion of colour, sound and even [!!!!] double vision
• Often a heightening of mood.

In depth and useful information this really is not.

Hey man, don't knock the double vision! It's the reason i take Spice! Laughing

And yes, Erowid is the badger's nadgers when it comes to drug info Wink

Talk to frank is just nonsense, it's something to create awareness of people who 'need help'. A buzz word to mention to someone who takes drugs because it sounds 'hip' to say 'hey man, you should talk to frank!'. It equates to nonsensical catchphrases in adverts and media spoon-feeding, it's a biased source of junk information, not created for anyone's benefit.

What more do you expect than propaganda? Erowid ftw, nexus ftw, and FACTS ftw.

If you want to see something even more ridiculous than the DMT page look at the mushrooms page.

Magic mushrooms can give you a good trip, making you feel confident, relaxed and in good spirits – or they can give you a really scary bad trip. You won’t know what will happen until you take them. The more you take, the longer your trip could last.

Confident and relaxed??? I can’t think of any time I have ever felt anything like that when playing with psychedelics!

Frank is pretty clueless; I asked him about the relative merits of 13 fluoro ohmefentanyl and he just looked at me blankly.Very happy
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Yeah TTF seems to exist solely for the sake of no-hope chav kids who'll smoke, snort, inject or huff any mystery junk their idiot mates dare them to. In this sense it's probably for the best that the site's language is so basic and proscriptive.
Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon.

Orio - Unfortunately I totally agree with you on that one mate Sad Shame really, I thought we lived in changing times....

d*l*b - I like how they lump Amanitas with Psilocybes and don't even bother explaining the difference, besides stating that it is a 'more potent type'! Great work there Franky boy, does your credibility a world of good!

Tek - Gold star if you can even remember your name on DMT!

CC - LMFAO! You should call their helpline and bamboozle them! Recording it all of course. (I have no idea what that substance is, *googles)

Laban - It seems a shame they can't at least go into a bit of depth later on, with the proscriptive part at the start. Chances are they will take anything regardless of whether Frank was in the picture or not though, imho.

Not to mention the heightened toxicity of amanitas that could be exceedingly dangerous if one were to think that it was the same as ingesting psilocybes.

CC-'Frank, I'm getting bored of codeine, its just not doing what it did.A friend suggested 13 fluoro ohmefentanyl as being a bit better than codeine. What do you reckon?'

Frank-'Uhh?'
