When using it for its effects and not as a maoi do you need a special diet while on harmala? Thanks

Just beware of contraindicated pharmaceutical medications with reversible inhibitors of monoamine oxidase. RIMA (harmama's) are not as hardcore as MAOI which are non reversible so you don't have to worry about food.

no. The maoi diet myth was made up by white people and tyramine interactions have no relevance to harmalas. Natives do a "dieta" with ayahuasca but that is different and is not about avoiding interactions but about cleanings the body and sensitizing the body/mind..

You will have to avoid negative drug interactions though..such as when taking anti-depressants, stimulants such as MDMA etc..if you dont understand what drugs to avoid when taking harmalas then do some more research..but foods like cheese and cultured foods with tyramine etc you are fine..

I'm going to add to it though, that even though there really isn't a special diet you need to be on

The lighter and healthier you eat before an ayahuasca session, the easier the purge will be. My first time I drank nothing but water all day, and only ate a cup of ramen noodles. The purge took less than two minutes, and didn't hurt at all.

My second time, I paid no attention whatsoever to my diet, and drank the medicine after a normals days worth of eating. Some junk food, some snacks, pop, etc. The purge was waaaaaaayyyy more hardcore, and I ended up with dirrahea too.

So just keep that in mind, and godspeed.

..i and others have certainly had negative experiences from eating certain foods whilst on harmalas..
coffee, cick-peas, lentils & white sugar for example..
while some people might be 'hard-stomached', i would advise restraint or experimentation...
