Yeah, I don't think it's really likely that most police dogs are trained to smell DMT. It's not a really common substance that people would try to sneak large amounts in their luggage through the airport or across borders, etc.

Dude, my dog always freaks out HARD when I journey...not only does he become a wiggly alien dog (in my perspective), but he starts running around the room and yapping at me...it's like he's saying "Im a part of your mind, and everytime you do this, dammit, it happens to me too! Stop!"....lol....He's chilled out since he started hitting the bong, and now he just watches me journey from across the room, with one ear cocked....I'm 99% sure he knows what's up.....oh yeah, Yay for my 200th post! That's all. "The search for Truth is the Greatest, if not, most Sensible form of Rebellion."

First they would need DMT (or something that smells exactly like it) to use for training--and that's not something that's available for "standard" dog training. Even the DEA might be hard pressed to come up with some DMT, I might imagine. I could imagine, IF some major crackdown on MHRB was going to happen (EXTREMELY low probability of that, IMO), then they could easily train dogs to detect bark.

i got stopped by slovenian customs crossing the border from croatia two years ago. they had their dog in the back of my van for what seemed like an eternity. i watched on as its nose came within an inch (the thickness of the foam insulation) of my stash of changa on numerous occasions. not a flicker of recognition. so no, it would appear they don't know the smell of dmt, or at least not in slovenia anyway, should you be thinking of taking some there. mind you, as has been pointed out, i don't doubt for a second they could be trained to do so, nor for that matter did the dogs inability to find anything prevent the customs men from putting me through a humiliating strip search.
be careful!
