I suggest you all put a link to this petition on your public profiles like facebook, twitter and whatever the hell you might use.
Appearantly if this petition reaches 1 Million voices it will be personally delivered to worldleaders.
Spread this petition as far and wide as possible.

The war on drugs has cost billions in tax money, funneled trillions of dollars into organized crime, cost countless lives, and achieved zero results.

Over 2000 media articles were written (AP, IPS, The Guardian), virtually all of them positive!! The taboo was broken...
In a strategy meeting that afternoon, the ex-presidents repeatedly looked to our community to help take the campaign forward, stressing that only grass roots pressure can create the political will for action.
The next day, the Global Commission and Avaaz met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. In 30 minutes of discussion, the Avaaz petition was presented and repeatedly cited as evidence of public demand for an end to the war. Ban took an important step and decided to create a task force to look at new solutions to the problem of drugs! A real and desperately needed debate has finally begun ...

I read that email yesterday, it's very interesting. As far as Australia having less harsh drug laws, we may have scheduled everything, but you're not going to jail for 20 years for simple marijuana posession. While our laws might be a little over the top, the consequences are light compared to, say, America. We don't have 5% of the WORLD's jail population, the US does.. and how many of them are in for drugs? An overwhelming percentage, last time I checked. This is awesome, though! They've used the Avaaz petition as evidence of public outcry on the end of the war on drugs. It's actually making people listen, it's awesome! Apply layers to reality, things only you can see. Add a beat to normality, to tap the core of insanity.
