Amanita Muscaria Options

I haven't seen many discussions, or experience reports on amanitas. Is it because amanitas aren't welcomed here at the Nexus? If you do know about these Amanitas would you care to answer some questions?:

What is a regular dose for amanita muscaria?

What effects does amanita give?

What should one be concerned about when ingesting amanitas?

Thank you, any info is much appreciated!

Much Love & Sincerity,

Read "Mushrooms and Mankind," by the late, great, wonderful JAMES ARTHUR.

Here's me (I mean a friend of mine) with some Amanitas that I found...

Most of what you want to know (and a whole lot more) is in here: http://www.shroomery.org...p/Number/9327978#9327978

The first section is just about identifying them properly, but after that their preparation, use, and chemistry are discussed. When I find fresh ones, I like to cook with them Smile

Edit: BTW making amanitas into food sounds scrumptious! Smile

Are you sure they are Amanita  MUSCARIA? If they are not do not eat them under any circumstances.

Seraph, that's part of why I included the link that I did. It's very east to distinguish fly agaric mushrooms from other members of the genus Amanita if you know what you're looking for (and contrary to popular myth, they bear practically no resemblance to death caps or destroying angels); the link above also presents all of the vaguely plausible look-alike mushrooms that occur in North America.

Dry the mushrooms to decarbolate the ibotenic acid into muscimol.
Doseage is undeterminate, because the A.Muscaria has a variable amount of active constituents.
Eat some caps and be prepared for nothing or anything to happen.
Have a sitter and be prepared to throw up, extreme derangement, or an O.B.E.
Re-ingest your own urine to purify the process. (not joking)
BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN ABOUT THE IDENTITY OF THE MUSHROOM, IN PARTICULAR WITH AMANITAS!

Entropymancer,

Many thanks for your comprehensive guide on Amanita over at Shroomery. Very well done and exactly what I've been looking for.

Again, many thanks.

these here supposedly taste great and work.
Hungry man usually eats one to two on the site and then makes tea at home.

A sidenote for people operating machinery everyday, like driving.
The trip usually lasts quite long, heard from several people that it lasts 3 days.

What is the amanita trip like in comparison to DMT, salvia or morning glory seeds? I've read descriptions of amanita trips but I still don't really understand what an amanita trip would be like. Is it more like DXM or salvia?

Not much like any of the mentioned, or anything else, to be honest. It is very far from tryptamines (DMT, psilocin, etc) and phenethylamines (mescaline, 2C-B, etc). It is, at least in higher dosages, a deliriant. Not as insane as Datura, Brugmansia and the like, but somewhere on the road to them. It is usually not very visual, but it works wonder on other senses. Amanita is Amanita. Nothing quite like it! Smile

Wow, that's great info. I had always heard that the amanita needed to be prepared perfectly or they were deadly toxic. Even if they were prepared perfectly, the trip was always said to be just like datura -- now I know that it's a completely different thing. I see these growing everywhere. I'll definitely pick some next season, if only for making grilled cheese.

It's not deadly if not prepared properly, but the ibotenic acid has some nasty effects on the body, such as intense sweating and nausea. If dried and/or heated properly, most of the ibotenic acid will be converted to muscimol, a compound that is much less hard on the body. Therefore, make sure the mushrooms are completely dried before consuming them. Other Amanitas contains deadly poisons known as amatoxins, however, and these are not suited for anything else than admiring the beauty of them. Cheers!

Thanks for the tip.
Yeah, the rumor and hearsay around these parts is that the white spots must be cut away from the red flesh and baked in an oven before consuming. It is said that if even the tiniest amount of red flesh gets into the white, death by liver failure is inevitable.
Gotta love urban rumors.

Amanita is a very sensual one.
It's always been nothig but pleasurable by itself.
Just very dominant in combos.
Be cautious if wishing to experiment (combos).
Smell like tea n,n spirit !

Toke the toke, and walk the walk !
