notes from attempt to recover any remaining dmt from water wash...

idea was to preform a water wash on a solution of exhausted fsfi saturated limo(to clean limo for reuse and to recover any leftover dmt salt.) H2O was made slightly acidic with fumaric acid, dirty limo was washed 2x each time with new clean slightly fum. acidified H2O. water wash's were collected and evaped in a dehydrator, resulting in a little over a gram of white/tan xtal material.

the idea at this point was that this leftover material should be mostly fumaric acid and dmt/"jimjam" fumarite salt. this material could then be redissolved in warm H2o and with the addition of sod. carb. based h2o, result in the remaining fb dmt xtals crashing out. (this works very well with your regular fum to fb conversion, the idea was to see if this would work well-ish for the water wash)

so the resulting evap. water wash material was put in a vial and near boiling water was added and about 1/3 of the material dissolved, the rest just stayed as xtals on the bottom, the water turned slightly yellow orange, but most of the material refused to dissolve even after much agitation and rewarming.

i dont understand why the material refused to re-dissolve in warm h20, when it came from a h2o solution to begin with...

the puzzlement grew when the h2o/fum solution returned to room temp. and what material that had dissolved in the warm h20 began to crash out and settle on top of the xtals that refused to dissolve originally, so now there are two layers in the tube, on the bottom are insoluble xtals and resting on top of those are very clean looking xtals all still remaining in a (non-basified) h20 solution with aprox. ph of 4....

Any one care to share some insight to help clear up the confusion as to what is happening and why?
