Do any of you abstain from certain things prior to blessing yourself with DMT?
I've just completed my first successful extraction but i've decided to stop smoking cannabis for 7 days before i actually partake, part of me really wants to taste a bit tomorrow when having a smoke with a mate, but at the same time i really want to go into it with total respect & humility. I like to stop smoking cannabis a few days prior to mushrooms so i feel DMT should be treated with the same if not more respect, as it's such a powerful extract.
Just wondering how far the people round here who take this as a sacrament really take the set/setting aspect of it? I also wonder how do you sit? Do you lie down? Meditate beforehand? Chant mantras? Breathing exercises?
I would love to hear how you do it...
Its such a paradox of how the right setting can assist you to go beyond the setting, but it's undeniably a big part of the psychedelic experience, an environment of loving nature where you can totally forget your body.

I like being in my most basic, calm, focused state of mind prior to taking Spice. I stop smoking, or ingesting any other substances a week or so before. I meditate beforehand, breathing in a controlled slow, and quiet manner. My surroundings do not matter to me as much as my state of mind does. I do however put a large blanket on the floor, light a few candles, and dim lights in my small room before I smoke, Spice. The thing is, we each have our own individual preferences. It's good to have an idea of what can help you better the experience, but you really have to discover most of these things on your own. Check out this post, it has very valuable information: https://dmt-nexus.me/for...aspx?g=posts&t=10945Arguably, going for a hike then sitting on top of a mountain and smoking Spice would make the experience much more profound for most, but personally I find that where ever I am never truly matters more than my state of mind. Do not listen to anything, "Steely" says. He is a made up character that his owner likes to role play with. His owner is very delusional and everything he says is completely untrue and ridiculous. Hate is the choice of a clouded mind. -"It takes humility to remember who we are"- "There has to be evil so that good can prove its purity above it." - Buddha

It's a good idea to stop smoking cannabis before smoking DMT, I tried to mix weed/hashish and dmt a couple times and I just got in deep meditation with no cev, not uninteresting but definitely not what I was looking for. Before smoking spice I usually lie down in my bed, dim the lights and perform some breathing exercices I learnt back when I scuba dived (3 short breaths + 3 deep ones, repeat a few times). Now it's important for you to make your own ritual (candles and incense can be a great help). To see the world in a grain of sand, and to see heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hands, and eternity in an hour. - William Blake

I myself dont stop smoking cannabis for few days before i intend to smoke dmt. through i do have a few rituals, i usually like to watch comedy before smoking dmt (or just swop jokes with mates, either way just laugh hard before you dose! this way your in a really happy mood) meditation for 15mins b4 you dose is also quite helpful, just clear your mind and what not! but i am finding i sometimes just skip the meditation and go 4 it. watch your favourite comedy show b4 u trip, it will make the journey so much more epic.

I also don't stop smoking weed prior to dmt. And i wouldn't dream of being without it while on shrooms or lsd (personal pref). However i only take a few hits before the spice flight (i don't like being too stoned) and finish up when i get back. As for other settings.... I like to try different things within reason. Outside/inside, with/without music/binaural tones, sitting up/laying down, with/without people, ect... And 95% of the time i try to meditate and clear my mind prior Trying new methods is fun, sometimes i'll stick with one for a while if it seems to bring something new to the table. But its good to go back to basics sometimes. The tragedy of life isn't that it's too short, it's that we take too long to begin it...

Marijuana definitely mutes all of SWIM's experiences with the Spice. She was already reducing her intake of the ganja before seriously beginning her work with DMT, but it's gone to extreme since she did. Maybe it's less of an issue for people who engage with Spice less often, but she only has a limited amount of free time and knows for sure which one promotes her healthy growth more. spice led me through some various ritual time-spans, some to the degree of lifestyle modification were not uncommon. spoken words at various times, thought patterns or cycles, furniture arrangement, color in my environment, reward control, etc and a whole bunch of dietary limitations and allowances that I don't care to list. ultimately though it led me away from rituals altogether. at first I swore off ritual and avoided it like a kid avoids vegetables. then I remembered some good rituals of yore and investigated the "why" or motivation of both habitual and reverent practices (gibran2 said something great about belief that I'll paraphrase: "it's not what we believe that's truly interesting, it's why we believe it" . so I'm more grounded when I'm critical of the rituals I involve myself in, which is something I'm about. basically being mindful in reflection of the habits I see myself create: what results (placebo or process) motivate me to continue their practice, what weights will the attachment bring, could I get the same thing some other way with less attachment (distilling the essence of the results), and above all will it impede my day to day life. just a behavioral awareness thing, the smallest changes can have the greatest effect. it's been a positive change for me. Sum up: rituals altered (enhanced?) the spice experience temporarily until it ripped that magic carpet out from under my feet and said "no-no".
