after a visit to the store today, looking at the tremendous variety, i'm a bit puzzled. i looked up the msds for all the items i found. first off, if it says that it contains only naphtha in quantities >75 - 100% - what does that mean? it can contain other stuff i possibly don't want to have? where are the remaining 25%?
also i wondered what the best one would be for extracting. i could get dcm, probably ipa too, i have acetone, but none of these are suitable for extracting if i remember correctly. i can't get xylene or limo.
solvent 1: naphtha, hydrotreated, light 75-100% n-hexan 2.5-5%
solvent 2 (primus powerfuel): naphtha, hydrotreated, light 25-100% n-pentane 25-100% naphtha, hydrotreated, light 10-25%
this one really puzzles me, as if it is just a random mix of everything. i've used it before and i wasn't impressed.
solvent 3: solvent naphtha, light aromatic 75-100%
solvent 4: naphtha, hydrodesulfurized, heavy, 75-100% Fatty alcohol polyglycol ether (?) 1-5%
probably not..
solvent 5 (zippo lighter fluid): aliphatic petroleum distallates (vm&p naphtha) 19% toluene <7% cyclohexane <3.5% xylene <8% aliphatic petroleum distallates (vm&p naphtha) >81% ethyl-benzene 2%
that sounds pretty ugly to me, but it has worked fine before. it is too expensive however.
solvent 6 "test fuel" (washbenzin - afaik it's naphtha) 50-75% naphtha, light aromatic 15-25%
