Yes, ridiculous. And ironic. I want to call them idiots. Mindless, panicking freaks. But it's instinct. Can't be helped. Shame.

They're not mindless panicking freaks. People where being led through a sort of funnel. Once they where this tightly packed no rational thinking would have amounted to anything. And many people did do everthing possible to help eachother.

The only thing you can blame them for is going into the tunnel in the first place. Once they where in there, it was a hopeless situation. If it would all have been mother theresa's, mandela's, gandhi's and budha's in there the outcome would have still been the same.

So sad.

How did they get into the tunnel in the first place? I'm guessing that authorities/organisers failed to block the open end of the tunnel (or failed to block it sufficiently) so one or two people (or troublemakers) suggested they go in it and the rest of the crowd followed unawares, only to find that the other end had been blocked up sufficiently, thus trapping the people? No matter how I look at it, I can only see this tragedy as being the responsibility of the authorities and/or organisers. Even if it were troublemakers who caused it by breaking down barriers etc, well we know to expect people like that at any event like this.

Do you think this will be the end of the Love Parade? I mean, they were having trouble with the authorities already I hear, hence the change of location...
Everything I write is fictional roleplay. Obviously! End tribal genocide: www.survival-international.org Quick petitions for meaningful change: www.avaaz.org/en/
End prohibition: www.leap.cc www.tdpf.org.uk And "Feeling Good" by David D.Burns MD is a very useful book.

It is sad that poor planning most likely was the cause of this disaster.

Not that I am the brightest bulb on the string, but I do try to avoid large crowd scenes like that. I have probably missed out on some really cool events such as festivals and concerts as a consequence of this attitude. I grew up in the Los Angeles area and the press of people there finally was too much for me in my normal day to day life to withstand, so I moved to a more rural place quite some time back.

When too many people are packed into an area and then some meat-headed officials block access to those areas in a way that makes it impossible for people to exit the area, then disasters like this are likely to strike. Mob mentality psychology can also operate in large crowds in very bizarre ways as well no matter how well intentioned the majority of its individuals are.
Everything mentioned herein has been deemed by our staff of expert psychiatrists to be the delusional rantings of a madman who has been treated with Thorazine who is hospitalized within the confines of our locked facility. This patient sometimes requires the application of 6 point leather restraints and electrodes at the temples to break his delusions. Therefore, take everything mentioned above with a grain of salt...

There won't be a love parade anymore.

I also think that many of these type of festivals will one by one dissapear. There have been too many incidents.
