so SWIM trtied this technique, and ended up with a black goo and the oil not seperating properly, any solution for this problem? guessing someone heated the mix too much, since before it got very hot the oil was a definete 2 layer easy defined seperation, now, barely any oil is gathering on top..any help the monkey would be rater happy to recieve...

Increasing the pH of your soup should aid in clearing the emulsion.

Please try to include more information when asking questionsIt might be a problem of emulsion, in which case, as Eden said, adding more lye can help. Also check the FAQ as it has more tips. It can also be that you made the solution too thick, so not only adding more lye but adding more water too might help making it less thick.

yeah, all the replys are basicly what one did, just prolly not going to be using the vinegar/sodium carbonate, oil method again..stb is so much easier..thanks for your replys nonetheless!!
