Experiences with yerba mate anyone? I picked up a little out of curiosity today, but i still havnt tried it yet. wanted to see if i could get a few opinions or hear a couple experiences from you guys to better understand what yerba mete is all about. how much dried leaf should i brew for one cup? what other teas/herbs mix well with yerba mate tea? All above posts are absolutely fictional and have nothing to do with actual reality whatsoever. If you are waiting for "that moment", that moment is now.

You're really missing out if you're brewing it like tea. Yerba mate is best when taken traditionally (with a gourd and bombilla). You fill the gourd about a third of the way, pour hot water in to finish filling it, and sip through the bombilla (filter straw). The first draw can be a little bitter, but after that it's delicious. You can keep replenishing the gourd with water at least a half-dozen times or more, until the flavor gets too weak or you feel like re-loading the gourd with fresh mate. Wonderful stuff, one of my favorite caffeine sources.

Do you guys sweeten your mate at all? I've been adding a little honey to sweeten it up a bit and it really does taste great. So much lighter than coffee, and just better then green tea imo. Very stimulating after a few cups! The universe is an infinite harmony of vibrating beings in an elaborate range of expansion-contraction ratios, frequency modulations, and so forth.

maté can also be used as an additive in ayahuasca brews. Acolon_5 told me this and i've used it a couple of times that way. I believe it counteracts some of the DMT's side-effects like vasoconstriction and mild bronchoconstriction.

Does anyone ever get headaches from it? Im not used to caffeine and have been getting headaches recently. At first I thought it may because im fasting and drinking ayahuasca but yesterday I drank two cups and ate normally and had terrible headaches, could it be the mate?
