Hello,

somebody i know has some mushrooms, however, they happen to be way too toxic to just eat. So to salvage them, my fried wants to do an extraction. He has already researched on the internet and found a good alcohol tek.

He also heard some controversy on the tek. So he would like to find out if someone has actually tried something of that kind and how it turned out?

BTW, my friend doesn't care if the exctract turned into crystals or just plain ol' tincture. He just wants to bypass those toxins for an enjoyable shamanic experience.

Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

SWIM once did an extraction on an eighth with anhydrous methanol, yield was minimal, sufficient for analysis but not a bioassay.

it requires a good deal, like an ounce, to yield anything worthwhile.
p.s. alcohols don't pull just alkaloids, they will also pull proteins and carbohydrates. an alcoholic extraction leaves a dirty product

May I ask what mushroom species this is? My experience is that resin is a great way to go. It eliminates much of the side-effects, because your body don't need to digest the mushrooms (they are HARD to digest!) and possibly because unwanted substances are left behind. A resin can be made by making an acidic sub-boiling tea (add lemon juice or vinegar), filtering out the solids, and evaporating the water. The resulting goo can be put in capsules.

acidic extraction is the way.
add vitamin C powder to the tea for added stability. ascorbic acid will help protect the psilocin from auto-oxidation during the evaporation

Oh, yeah, ascorbic acid is much better to use than lemon juice or vinegar! Great that you corrected me. Smile

Mush appreciate the feedback guys.

The species are cubes. B+'s to be more specific.

The resin sounds very interesting indeed. As long, as it can eliminate the unwanted side effects.

My friend has tried making an extract with water and lime juice, using 3g's. Came out with very potent blue water. However, it was not possible to keep it down for more than one hour max.

Can i please get some more detail on the resin method?

1. What is the expected yield, lets say with 3 g's?

2. How much vitamin C is needed?

3. How long should he brew the tea, and is minimum heat sufficient?

I have not done extrakts, but have made tea. for me that eliminated all stomaq cramps and pain. I infuse the shrooms in water with something acidic lemon or maybe rose hipps, and ginger. and leave it on low heat for about half an hour. does the trick for me. I like the taste of dry mushrooms but the stomaq pain the cubensis gives me ruins the trip, but the tea method works wonders.

hope this vas not to much of topik

Norcereus method is great, although I would let the tea sit for a full hour. Don't let it boil, 50-60 C or so should be sufficient. You can drink this tea as it is, or evaporate it under low heat and a fan to yield a resin. The potency will be a bit higher with 3 grams resin than that of 3 grams mushroom, although the trip will last shorter.

This is due to the Psilocybin being converted to Psilocin, and faster absorption as the mushroom does not need to be digested. It doesn't really matter how much ascorbic acid you add, a few grams would be more than enough. It will do no harm if you add too much.

Safe travels!
