When I log onto the site, a popup tells me I have an unread PM, but I can't seem to access it. Instead, I get the following error message:

This was due to a much wider problem. One of the threads of the forum software stalled and that resulted in this dreaded message.

Resetting the worker thread resolved it, if this will happen more often or when I finally have some extra spare time I'll dive deeper into this to eradicate it.
