Chickens and Chacruna Options

I felt like others might find it interesting that chickens can eat chacruna. I had a young chacruna plant growing in my chicken coup. And this Spring I got 3 hens. And they ate the entire plant, when they were no more than 4 inches tall. So apparently chickens can eat chacruna wirhout adverse effacts, since they're still going strong.

It had like 10 mature leaves at least.

Oops! And you weren't tempted to make chickahuasca?

Thinking about it now, I would tend to keep my favorite young plants away from chickens were I to have any of the latter.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

I worked on the chicken coop slowly but surely for about 3 years before I actually got the chickens, due to lack of money. Prior to getting them it was an awesome spot for a plant. It wasn't my only plant, thank the Gods. It might even grow back. I moved it to the north side of a clump of Banana trees, with some other Psychotrias (they seem to love growing with the Bananas).

It also caused me to wonder about chicken digestion. Whether they have MAO like we humans. It seemed like a large quantity of plant matirial relative to their size at the time.

Actually, my chickens really do like eating psychotria. I have two plants in my yard. Each had at least 100 leaves each. Lately one is about a bit less than half its former size and the other has only 2 or 3 leaves left. I wonder what they get out of it?
