The Closing Credits of DMT...(mostly just my random thoughts) Options

right after a trip has ended i often times see these wispy spider webby tangles floating and slowly fading ...almost like with fireworks the stuff you see in the sky after the pretty part.
and if it was like a strong trip sometimes even after opening my eyes these wisps will float in my vision as i look around... this is what i started calling (to myself) dmt's "closing credits." has anyone else seen what im talking about?
it got me wondering what exactly are we seeing during a dmt trip? like it feels like im really seeing something with my eyes closed not like visualizing it..which i know because like probably most people here also noticed it's possible to visualize something else while seeing the trip that im having. which is so strange when i think about it...how are we able to see what our mind is creating from tripping but then also be able to create other mental images at the same time? does anyone know of any studies explaining how these visual images are formed when someone's tripping?

i wonder if what i wrote makes any sense...also i think part of me is just wishing i could control this ability to form images out of the darkness that's there when my eyes are closed without having to be on a psychedelic substance ..

i'd love to hear any thoughts people have about this

Could it be something similar to those optical illusions that when you stop looking at it the image perisists for a bit? I think it's completely a mental thing, it's not like any part of the physical visual system got deformed, it's something in the way that the brain interprets visual data and produces visions. Maybe it can be simplified as the weights in the neural networks responsible for vision needing time to come back to their base values.

With dmt, since the visions are not coming from a physical visual input, it's maybe not the networks related to interpretation of visual data but only production of visions.

Does the wispy spider webby tangles somehow correspond to the dmt visions? Like edges in a geometric visual?

"Is this the end of our adventure? Nothing has an end. We came in search of the secret of immortality, to be like gods, and here we are... mortals, more human than ever. If we have not obtained immortality, at least we have obtained reality. We began in a fairytale and we came to life! But is this life reality? We are images, dreams, photographs. We must not stay here! Prisoners! We shall break the illusion. This is Maya. Goodbye to the holy mountain. Real life awaits us." ~ Alejandro Jodorowsky

what I've found with oral harmalas +/- DMT is that there are several layers of 'screens' between open eyes consensus reality and hypnogia and dreaming. Just the other night I woke up while still under the influence of harmalas and these distinct phases of consciousness were quite apparent as I transitioned into (harmalated) waking consciousness. I suspect DMT illumanates these phases more strongly, such that more than one can be observed contemporaneously. With higher doses of harmalas I've noted three simultaneous, distinct phases of consciousness. The mind functions on numerous different levels all the time - it raises the question, perhaps, of just what is this consciousness that is tuning in to it all anyhow?!

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

yess it does feel like the optical illusions that persist after you stop looking at them. that's a great question about if the tangle wisps correspond to parts of the visions. i'd assume they did typically but now im very interested to pay attention the next time i see them to be sure.

i wonder how much is known about the neural networks involved in the production of visions. i remember reading once about a study finding that the brains of people on dmt would function similarly to how they would be when using VR headsets..i wonder if that relates in some way..

yes that question it raises is definitely mind blowing to even attempt pondering. actually even just your description of the layers/screens of consciousness is blowing my mind. i've personally never done dmt in any form other than vaping though im very curious about the experience and what i could learn about my own consciousness from it.
