Context - I'm not very active on this forum, but I have almost 20 years' experience with myriad psychedelics including DMT and ayahuasca and I consider myself well informed on the subject. My worldview is strongly aligned with concepts from the Eastern philosophies as is often the case with "psychonauts", but whilst I am open minded, I generally apply a healthy dose of scepticism to any ideas and insights gleaned from psychedelic experiences. I don't want to come across as big headed by saying this, but I think it's important for context so that the reader appreciates that the experience I am about to describe does not come from a place of naivety.
In my recent DMT trips (and to an extent, ketamine trips, strangely), I have been having the experience of what I can only describe as speaking in tongues, or "glossolalia". It feels as though I have been able to do so with increasing accuracy and in a variety of strange, ancient sounding languages.
I was once told by a Peruvian ayahuasca shaman that this is a fairly common experience but I took that with a pinch of salt and thought no more about it. That is, until it happened to me. I have recently become intrigued to learn that other people have had this experience too, and after digging around online, found some fascinating videos which demonstrate this.
The guy in this video sounds very similar to one of the languages/sounds I seem to make. The only difference is that this guy sounds angrier, almost as though he's in pain (I suspect this may be due to his resistance of it):

Last Saturday, I tripped on acid with a friend. After it had (mostly) worn off and my friend went home, I decided to take a few hits on my DMT vape (I didn't feel like having a full on breakthrough on my e-mesh), and this experience of speaking tongues was taken to a whole new level. I feel like I being shown that I was "ready" to have a little bit more of the "truth" revealed to me and that, given my commitment and experience over the years with this compound, I was ready to take on a bit more of this truth without resisting and being completely overwhelmed by it.
It felt strongly as though I was being inducted into the spirit world and shown how it works. I had the experience of mind/soul surgery that I've heard people speak about, as though something entered into my body and was scanning different areas. It was a pleasant feeling, as though a little ball was coursing through my body and massaging areas of tension. This "ball" entered into the backs of my eyes as I noticed my eyes roll around into the back of my head. There is so much more to this but you all know how difficult it is to describe, and writing it out in this way makes it almost sound like just another DMT trip. It wasn't.
I took another hit, and this time I felt as though I wanted to roll my eyes into the back of my head again. This time they sort of locked upwards into place beyond the range they would normally be able to move, seemingly looking towards my third eye (maybe?). It's hard to describe what happened after this, but I seemed to enter (through my third eye) this kind of check point with a large dial which I could turn. The dial allowed me to choose different doorways, but as I didn't feel like I knew what to choose, I kind of resisted and came back down from there.
With my eyes wide open again and back in my room, I continued spending time in the spirit realm where I continued to speak to entities in different languages. Some seemed like minor arguments while others felt like general conversation, as though I was speaking to a long lost ancestor who was pleased to see me and pleased that I "finally understood". I had a particular kinship to this kind of ape/monkey like figure which seemed to come to me as some kind of spirit guide. I feel now that this is the entity I am usually communicating with. So much more happened, but I am aware of the poverty of words at my disposal to try and articulate it. All I can say is that it felt like I have been shown the next level of truth and that I should expect further instructions on where to go next. I am aware as I type this that this sounds absolutely crazy, but this is how it feels.
I have also experienced a seemingly ancient language during an ayahuasca journey. Not through speaking it, but from seeing it. My vision was filled with ancient characters a little bit like Egyptian hieroglyphs cascading before me like some kind of matrix code. It felt like I was witnessing the language of the universe. This "asemic writing" is depicted in the works of art by Alex Grey such as Secret Writing Being.
I wonder how we can tap into this language more deeply and try to learn from it. Could we utilise it to communicate with our ancestors in the spirit realm, or entities? It would be cool to carry out some proper research into this.
I also think it's important that more people who experience phenomena like this should speak up about it. Hopefully, with time, we as a community can piece together the mysterious puzzle that is DMT (though I'm not holding my breath!).
What on earth is going on here?! Is this "all in my head"? Am I just being "used" as a vessel to transmit language between entities? Have I been given some kind of gift that I need to nurture in order to communicate with the spirit world?!
