So, this is going to be my first time using extracted DMT for an Ayahuasca experience. My big question, is it worth salting out the spice or is freebase sufficient for an oral experience? TIA! Without growth, what's the point?

TIA! Pretty sure that if an MAOI is active you can just eat it. You can also put it in lemon juice and then drink it. I'm also fairly confident that freebase DMT is active, as I've heard some stories of stomach issues but no other concerns. However, adding it to lemon juice like Void said shouldn't hurt anything and should in theory convert it to DMT citrate (and may make absorption faster), so I'd recommend putting it into nearly any acidic drink. I like herbal tea with lemon juice personally, but orange juice, lemonade, maybe even cola? would work well. No idea how long to let it sit for, but if my chemistry knowledge serves once it's all dissolved it should be salted. Peace and Love. All posts written by GTP-3, and proofread by my pet snake.

For pharmahuasca, I mix my freebase DMT in water with a little citric acid to help it dissolve. It works quickly and I consume it right after all the DMT is dissolved. I do the same for freebase harmine, which I take 20-30 minutes before the DMT.
I have DMT acetate tincture (q21q21 tek) which also dissolves quickly in water (obviously). So I assume freebase DMT would dissolve quickly in a little vinegar.

DMT freebase will be protonated with the HCl in the stomach so you dont have to turn it into some salt form beforehand but DMT freebase can be harsh on your stomach (and mouth/oesophagus), so it is a good idea to use any kind of (food-safe) acid like an acidic juice, coca cola or whatever.
If the source of MAOI is for example a Banisteriopsis caapi or peganum harmala brew, that decoction will already be acidic enough that you can just throw your DMT inside and mix a bit and it should eventually dissolve

Endlessness, in terms of the harshness does salting it actually help reduce this? I would have imagined that it would better interact with mucus membranes as a salt; Do you know why non-free base is better (comfort-wise) from a chemistry point of view? Also, if it's less harsh as a salt would salt DMT e-liquid in theory be less harsh? Just curious, as I have not seen much on freebase vs salted for anything except solubility and storage. I appreciate the replies! I too have found that freebase is irritating to the mouth/throat, so if salting it out can reduce this, it seems plausible that it would reduce stomach discomfort as well. My next ayahuasca experience will be a citric acid heavy shot of deems chased with a nice glass of fresh squeezed lemonade Without growth, what's the point?

Ascorbic acid - vitamin C - is worth a try, especially if you can get hold of the pure powder. This would be for immediate consumption as I've no idea about the keeping properties of DMT ascorbate, nor whether it can form sensible crystals. knotimpressed wrote:Also, if it's less harsh as a salt would salt DMT e-liquid in theory be less harsh? There's a recent thread about this, it does seem to be a smoother vape although I can't say that from experience. (And I wouldn't recommend the ascorbate for e-juice!) “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work." ― Jacques Bergier, quoting Fulcanelli

Peace and Love Salting definitely helps with the harshness when ingesting orally. I suppose the basicity of DMT is responsible for the harshness, the nitrogen on the amine has a lone pair of electrons that can act as a base. I've never played around with e-liquids to say from experience, neither with smoking/vaporizing salts, but I'd think freebase will work better. Sometimes salt forms don't vaporize well and are inefficiency, have higher boiling points and potentially degrade instead. Also you gotta be careful with what products can form from heating salts. For example fumaric acid can turn into maleic anhydride which is a strong irritant, so I wouldn' t smoke fumarates. I'm not sure about the safety or eficacy of smoking/vaporizing other salt forms...

Quote:I'd think freebase will work better. Man that sucks, not that I expected anything different though since that makes sense. Would be nice if there was a less harsh form though, I'm still having a lot of issues with it on my throat and lungs when I take large hits. I know benzoic acid is used for nicotine, but I remember reading that most salt forms of DMT had stability issues at the temperatures used for vaping. They also (I think) only seemed to solve solubility issues? I don't use e-liquid either, so I was just curious. The basic electrons make sense, are all amines basic then? Using a second vaporizer to inhale acid at the same time to neutralize it in my airways doesn't seem like the smartest solution, as cool as it sounds!
