Medication Bye Bye - Hello MAOI Options

So I'm a heavyweight when it comes to feeling effects from most serotonergic psychedelics and I'm finally coming off of a med that can interact with MAOIs(not an SSRI).

My doc says I can give MAOIs a try in a week. Any recommendations from you all? I am making some changa, and I'm considering what the best way to try oral or sublingual dmt would be. How vital do some of you who primarily vaporise consider the MAOI effect of changa to be?

In a nutshell, how much have I been missing out on and where would you start? I've had powerful psychedelic experiences, 7+ g of mushrooms multiple times, but never broken through fully on dmt.

I also have 100mg of enhanced leaf 1:1 and an anyone's guess pinch of freebase (I know it's impossible to guess but if I had to I'd say between 40 and 80, that itself isn't much help either).

I don't use DMT or plan to use DMT or other potent alkaloids often enough to justify buying a milligram scale, I am happy with my 0.00 display for weighing enhanced leaf, which is what I plan to stick to (but maybe convert entirely to changa).

How would you make the most of both the leaf and the base for one last try at a breakthrough for now?

Just a heads up, serotonin out competes serotonergic psychedelics for the same receptors. So it's very very likely the SSRI is the reason you have been a heavy weight in the past. When you jump into taking psychedelics without SSRI in your system, just remember your head may not be as hard as you've come to believe it is. Start as if you are taking it for the first time with low to average doses and work up rather than taking for granted that you need heavy doses to get any reasonable effect.

You don't mention which MAOI you are planning to use, I'm going to assume harmalas.

For vaporizing/smoking, harmala/MAOI is not vital at all, they are a great addition, they extend and slow down the experience allowing one to work with the inhaled tryptamine more effectively, but not required to get an effect. For oral dosing they are vital, since the DMT will be metabolized before it can cross the blood brain barrier if MAO is not sufficiently inhibited.

For the changa, just load the whole batch up into a bowl and puff till it's gone (or till you are, whichever comes first). Long, slow hits, hold it in as long as you can.

For the freebase I'd say go ahead and orally or sublingually dose the harmalas and when you start feeling the effects from them vaporize the freebase as you normally would.

An average dose of sublingual harmalas seems to be about 20-40 mg for most people.

Oral dosing of harmalas is incredibly variable, some people will be on their backs at 100 mg and some people won't feel anything till 300 mg or more. I'd suggest doing some experimenting with oral harmalas alone to find your correct dose before you add DMT to the mix. The effects you are looking for are feeling very stoned and dreamy, you may experience some nausea and vertigo, especially your first few times.

Hope it helps and please let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the input and caution. It has crossed my mind that it may be that, however I didn't always need such large doses and I was on the medication for a while, I think the change is going to be minimal, the med is an SARI - not an SSRI. Trazodone.

I know they're not vital as in biologically needed, the question was more rooted in the extent of the reported pros.

As someone who has trouble breaking through, changa sounds very attractive.

But yeah, I agree with what you're saying and I will go on the lighter side next dose, lower end of dosing, higher end of preparedness Smile
