Maybe someone else with more knowledge could say if this sounds interesting:

"Effective extraction of harmine by menthol/anise alcohol-based natural deep eutectic solvents"
https://www.sciencedirec...bs/pii/S1383586620316853

There are no really bad solvents involved in my extractions of Rue, but it's always good with alternatives.

Good find, I only just noticed your posting of this.

There's a good deal of useful technical information and references in the paper that may provide guidance for those experimenting with harmala extraction.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

Yes It's always interesting to se other ways of doing things. But for me with out real equipment of connections with the chemistry field its difficult to get hold of the chemicals (and the proper way to handle them). But I like to share information s that others might go and explore where I can't.

Like "anise alcohol"?

"Anise alcohol" - better known as anisyl alcohol, or systematically as 4-methoxyphenylmethanol - is commonly used in perfumery and occurs naturally in several plants. Of course, the bulk material will likely be synthetic (from p-cresol), even if anethole is a viable starting material.

All that said, I don't expect to be using this particular method in the foreseeable future Big grin
