Hello friends! Years ago I saw a video on here of a Brazilian fella with some ethno testing kit, claiming he could determine the strength of live cactus samples with it. Does anyone have a link to it still? Or, did anyone try it?

Hey!

That was me Smile

This thread has link to suppliers of TLC kits and lots of useful info.

If you are planning on simply comparing different cactus samples to get an idea on which cutting is more potent, the comparison should be very straightforward with the TLC kits as they come. If you want to get actual numbers of the cactus potency instead of a more crude comparison between cuttings, it will be slightly more complicated, and you'll need some pure-ish mescaline as a reference standard to compare.

Check out that thread out, let me know if you have any doubts. Feel free to pm me if I don't answer the thread after a while.

Good luck!

I came across this post, and thought my $0.02 might be worth considering wrt a good M standard.

Loveall’s Cielo tek is a simple, straightforward tek that produces M citrate. He has had the product anslyzed (see wiki), and it is pretty pure. I have demonstrated that the tek can scale down to 5g of cactus powder, and am working to go lower, for the purpose of assaying plant M yield. This product may be useful as a (psuedo)standard for calibrating chromatography results; it may also provide (if the tek can be micronized) another approach to very small sample yield quantification.

If you have questions about using cielo, you can find me at the Ethyl Acetate Approach thread. I have no problem discussing privately, but I think others may be interested in seeing discussion of this topic.

Yes, I like! Been eying this Cielo threat ever since a friend told me about it. Just did me first run with some minor problems. I think it will be very useful for this purpose and can't wait to do some testing with it.

I look forward to you nailing cielo, then to hear about your adventures in chromatography.

I have some background in using chromatography for some other products outside this domain, and am hoping I can use this technique for making better decisions in my cactus gardening work. Would be nice to start dealing with facts when it comes to consistently quantifying M content, in species, hybrids, different ages, gardening treatments, harvest decisions, breeding, etc.

Doing small quantities via Cielo might be be just as good of an approach to determine Mescaline content of various cacti.
This paper definitely proofed the psycho clone to be dud. Lol

I’m hoping I can demonstrate the usefulness of cielo for one gram samples. If I can, then perhaps a more skilled person can micronize the approach for even smaller samples.
