Hi all. I am a different kind of member than most around here. I lived a rough and dangerous life for a couple decades. Me and my wife are recovering addicts. I am addicted to PcP and Oppiates. I used PcP to treat depression for years and became addicted and when I quit completely I got addicted to pills which helped mask symptoms. Then we found Psilocybin, it is a very effective treatment for me when taken in disassociative doses (we're talking 21 gram tea made from my albino strain which is around 3x the potency of my "normal" strain (KSSS) used for microdosing) I began growing mushrooms and have been for 3 years now. Everything was going good until...
I have recently had problems with some sort of heat resistant mold I must have cultured some way. Meanwhile I have been wanting to try DMT as a replacement therapy for Psilocybin. As I am a recovering drug addict (2 years sober) I have hesitation when taking my depression treatments to begin with. First of all I don't like being screwed up for hours at a time. To make things worse, last time I vomitted while laying on my back mid breakthrough and nearly aspirated mid breakthrough, I was nom responsive and my wife had to roll me off the bed
NEVER TAKE BREAKTHROUGH AMOUNTS OF PSILOCYBIN ALONE YOU CAN DIE FROM ASPIRATION!
So I did a ton of research and decided to take a shot at extracting some MHRB. My firat extraction was completely ruined as I ended up with a gooey tray full of gnats and about 150mg of bug free goo that I scraped up and put in a vape cart and the cart was bad and the small amount of juice I made "primed" the cart and stayed in it so I got pretty much nothing from the first 2 pulls of 400g MHRB. I tried again and this time got an emulsion that wouldn't break, added salt, lye, heat, vibration (dryer, vibrator, the vibrating razor worked best). Several days later it broke and I got some pulls. I ended up with about a 0.75% yield which isn't the best but considering the learning curve wasn't bad either. In the process I came across a thread about solvent saturation and found I have been using too much Naptha for my pulls (I have around a half gallon of yellow saturated Naptha that I am now backsalting and have good reason to believe this should greatly increase my yields)
Now to the molecule itself. This stuff takes me to the same place that the Cubes do without the grueling 6 hour ride and hits the exact same "reset" button. The downside was that it caused my wife severe muscle spasms (she basically locked up until I helped her vaporized some THC which ended 90% of the spasms immediately). It was effective for her as it was for me. I am grateful for the molecule and definitely agree that this is not for everyone nor should it be 'taken lightly'. DMT is some serious stuff and if you are going to use it you should have respect for what it does and what it is.
Now about my recovery. I am 2 years sober and live by spiritual principles. I do use cannabis but not for intoxication purposes nor do I ever use a psychedelic for recreational use either, only for depression treatment in conjunction with meditation. I do not hold with those who believe the only true path to sobriety is by never intentionally ingesting mind altering chemicals, I believe if used for medical and spiritual purposes it actually helps. I actually believe a lot of people are harmed by this hard nosed sobriety approach and that there are natural substances to help us with certain conditions that are far more effective than anything offered at a pharmacy.
We are the type of people that qualify for Ketamine treatments which are very expensive not to mention it is the analogue they replaced PcP with which O happen to be very addicted to. These natural substances are just as effective if not more effective with almost none of the side effects that come from the synthesized dissociatives.
Thank you DMT Nexus for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of this great community and the projects going on here. Be the change you want to see, that's how I live my life. Every living creature in this plane has the creator in them wether apparent or not so I act like everyone and every animal, plant, insect, etc... has God within them. Really changed my attitude about life.

First, congratulations on your sobriety! I hope you maintain it for a long time to come. You'd be surprised at the breadth of walks of life here on the forums. There are others like you. You and your wife may be interested in this thread about supporting in recovery. There is a learning curve for extracting, but you sound understanding and patient about it. So you're already primed for future success. In psychedelic therapy terms, your wife's spasms could very well be energetic discharging. It's happened to me on DMT and many other psychedelics. Encourage her to breathe into and through it, and to not let it discourage her from interacting with DMT. Thank you for sharing so much about yourself. Thank you. I think the term spasm may be an understatement, she locked up in a very unnatural position. Her limbs bound up in ways she could not move otherwise and it was extremely painful. What we did learn was that whatever is happening isn't lethal and THC alleviates most of it. This issue has caused her a lot of hesitation in using psychedelics so she always waits longer than she should have to do a treatment. I have researched quite a bit and have not found anything concrete however I suspect there are damaged nerve endings leading to or from that receptor which causes her "spasms".

Sounds like it could be tetany. It's something I experience when using cannabis as a psychedelic and couple it with breathwork. To my understanding, in that context, it's carbon dioxide saturation of the blood that leads to tetany. It'salso related to low calcium levels. A supplement may help prevent in the future. Hope this helps. One love What if the "truth" is: the "truth" is indescernible/unknowable/nonexistent? Then the closest we get is through being true to and with ourselves. Thank you for your response. I have looked at that before as well and that makes a lot of sense actually. We will definitely start a calcium supplement for her (she is lactose intolerant so this actually makes more sense than anything else. Her Vitamin D intake is close to 0).
I read through the recovery thread and that is completely awesome. I really like this forum. A lot of like minded individuals here. We keep it real with our children (they're all high school age teenagers that lived with us in the depths of our addictions) and they have always been supportive except for the 16 year old that told me our sobriety no longer counts, blah, etc, ?-insert hurtful comment here- when her mother told her about the DMT. My attitude about recovery is 'to thine own self be true'. I know why I am smoking Cannabis or DMT or why I took Psilocybin or LSD and it's always for legit medical and spiritual uses and never to escape (reality or feelings). I will be eternally grateful to all of the research that is available on this site and to all the contributing members. This molecule is definitely what we have been missing. Nature has given us these tools to use and I believe they are 'non-addictive' so that people such as ourselves are able to use these tools without setting off something inside of ourselves that makes us reach for something that is unhealthy and destructive to US. DMT does not make we want PcP or Opiates, it makes me grateful for the clarity of mind and serenity I have achieved through practical application of spiritual principles in all areas of my life and my relationship with a loving Creator I am absolutely in love with.
We need a PAR research program. Psychedelic Assisted Recovery. I hold firm that I believe the hard line approach taken with some recovery programs is more harmful than helpful. I honestly relapsed last time because I refused to medicate my depression and ended up smoking PcP, breaking my arm and getting hooked on opiates. Psychedelic substances like Cannabis, DMT and Psilocybin do not have an effect that causes me to want those more 'harmful' drugs (harmful to me, I used PcP in a medical fashion for years before becoming addicted). I think we could save some lives together.

Won't be surprised if it's an exponentially more pleasant experience for her... unless the spice decides to send her somewhere real crazy Oh, you gotta love the overzealous nature of teenagers... I'd be interested as to her stance in another 16 years. I find DMT to be relatively self-regulating since it's terrifying but it's definitely not the same for everyone. I also tend to think about recovery in terms of "how is said drug being used?" When it's for healing, exploration, spirituality, and/or growth, and avoiding use out of boredom or any other willy nilly intent, then it's hard to categorize it as abuse or "falling off the wagon." I find some synchronicity in your PAR program idea, since I am presently learning skills to be a better psychedelic guide for others (as well as myself). The illegality is a detriment and hindrance to society largely, though things seems to be turning around in some places. I agree with you. Hi. Pleased to meet you. Congratulations on recognising your addictions, and for trusting in natural plant medicines rather than potentially damaging prescription drugs. Like yourself, no doubt, I'm looking forward to a future in which plant medicine is more positively regarded, for as both you and I have seen, it's very effective. I'm an addict/dependent, too (sex, and cannabis, respectively), so you're not alone. you might be interested in this post, if no-one's mentioned it yet; https://www.dmt-nexus.me...;t=97382&find=unread
