I'M DANGEROUS WITH LOVE is about addiction and rehabilitation, activism and
shamanism. It's the story of Dimitri, who started out as the heavily
addicted front man for the band Leisure Class, then ended his long drug and
alcohol addiction five years ago with an experimental treatment that used the
hallucinogen ibogaine.

African shamans have used ibogaine in their rituals for centuries, but in
the U.S. it is a Schedule 1 controlled substance. Dimitri now very
illegally takes addicts through the same detox that he says saved his life.
I'M DANGEROUS WITH LOVE is an underground adventure that traces Dimitri's
risky journey as he treats desperate drug users. He is a man of edgy energy
going from one addict to the next without stopping to catch his breath.

But then one session goes bad in a remote snowed-in Canadian home, and a
quiet young man almost dies. Dimitri has to decide whether or not to
continue his mission. Is it serving the addicts or just releasing his own
demons? Dimitri travels to Gabon, West Africa, to consult with Bwiti
shamans, and puts himself through a punishing iboga initiation in search of
guidance.

From 4 years of research around Brazil, HÍBRIDOS, THE SPIRITS OF BRAZIL dives into the sacred culture of the largest country in South America through a very poetic and sensorial approach.

As an exploration of trance-cinema, the film breaks down the distance between the viewer and the subject, guiding them trough a realm of movements, of non-stop dances, of music pulsating at high rhythms, creating in its core a new perspective about what might be the invisible and how to we deal with it in a creative way.

An ethnographic journey into the world of sacred ceremonies and their diversity, as well as a trip into cinema as a pure poetic language. Without any voices paving the way, only the sounds of the rituals and the chants of the devotees, Híbridos is a music film of a new kind.

those are a series of video made by the french filmmaker vincent moon about trance in Brasil. in the site there is a map and you can get click on different region of the country where trance rituals are shown from candomblé to huni kuin ayahuasca ceremonies

an amazing film from the great genesis p orridge, who died recently

Bight of the Twin is a feature documentary where friends and collaborators, director Hazel Hill McCarthy III and cultural engineer Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, explore the relationship between Vodun and Western secular art and performance by trying to answer the question of “what is embodiment?” The filmmakers traveled to Ouidah, Benin looking for an up close, insider’s view of one of the world’s oldest religions through the radical exchange of beliefs and ideas with Genesis Breyer P-Orridge. Beginning as an investigation, the nature of the project changed when Genesis was serendipitously initiated into the ‘Twin Fetish’—a tradition within Vodun that honors twins and has some surprising parallels to Genesis’ own artistic practice. Through these ceremonies, Genesis reaffirmed an eternal bond with h/er late wife and Pandrogyne partner, Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge, an activation of a complete state. In filming, the nature of the film changed from simply being a catalyst for audiences to gain a wider understanding and acceptance of Vodun, to being itself, Vodun—an object that has been activated by creation. Here, in this visual collage from the film, Genesis elaborates on this.

The word Taqwacore is a combination of hardcore, a genre of punk music, and taqwa, an Arabic word that translates as "piety" or "god-fearing." The first to use the term was writer, journalist, and Muslim convert Michael Muhammad Knight. His novel The Taqwacores, about a group of young Islamic punk rockers, received a storm of recognition among young American Muslims and prompted the formation of various Muslim punk bands.
