Most here will agree that psychedelic compounds can loosen the binds in the mind, and thus have a [positive] impact on the many conditions we associate with a malfunctioning brain.
With the recent proliferation of companies that research the use of these agents for healing purposes, I want to shine a light on their potential to reshape the body. Oftentimes, the physical effects of substances that are seen to be mostly working on the mind are referred to as side effects -something to be minimized, and I reckon this will apply to psychedelics.
But that does not need to be the case, and if researchers from these new pharma companies are browsing forums such as this one for inspiration, I want to make the case for the ability of psychedelics to tap into some kind of intelligence of the body. The kind of healing triggered by that goes far beyond fixing what we now label as mental illness (or whatever the pc term of the day may be).
Indeed, not only can psychedelics reinvent psychiatry -they also belong in the offices of physical therapists, and dentists, and practitioners of internal medicine.
