Ever since I first joined the Nexus (I lurked for two days until the weekend when I could pass through the gate) and read the wealth of information here regarding dmt, I have been very curious about the full spectrum jungle spice. 100 grams of "Hidden Valley" mhrb was powdered in blender. 3x boils with a healthy splash of acetic each boil. Boils were strained through T-shirt, combined, reduced to 800 ml an placed in my 1000ml Erlenmeyer. Solution was made basic with 30 grams NaOH mixed into 100 ml water. Once based and properly black, 100 ml xylene was added to the flask. Shook and let seperate two times an hour all day long. By that night the solvent was so cloudy I could not see through it. Opaque. I pulled the solvent and placed in one of my trusty corningware, which I left on the sill of an open window in a closed room. The xylene evaporated quickly, a little over a day. What was left was a reddish tan goo covering the bottom of the corningware. Not that I mind goo, see the thread about all the acacia goo love. This batch though, since it contained (hopefully) all the alkaloids from 100 mg potent mimosa, I felt sure to see it crystalize in some way. I was not mistaken. At first there were just a couple few circular crystal patterns throughout the mix. Every day now, they are growing in size and number. At this point there is more crystal than goop. Excited for the day it has all crystalized and is ready for the razorblade. Tony6Strings attached the following image(s): IMG_20200707_132841.jpg (797kb) downloaded 250 time(s). That is interesting. You know, the first time I saw (and tried) DMT back in 1995, it was in a form that I haven't seen since but may have been similar to this. I'm pretty sure I've read McKenna describe the same. It was very wet, thick cylindrical red xtals that sort of congealed together, iirc. IDK, I've smoked DMT represented as jungle spice too and it did not have the same consistency as what I described...? I have always wanted to know how that was made. You asked somewhere if I have tried my acacia extract, and well, yes and no. I'm dealing with some stuff as you know, and am kinda waiting for my neurons to settle down first, as well as having some roomate conflict in my house that doesn't make me feel 100% comfortable. I've been hitting small doses of EL and cigarettes soaked in goo to help relax muscle tension, if you can beleieve that, and it really works for awhile at least. I'm hopefully going down into some old growth for the weekend, and that sounds like the place to blast off, as long as my body agrees, but this detox is taking forever... Keep posting your results. 80 ml fresh xylene was added to the motherliquor, shaken and seperated several times. Now piss yellow and cloudy opaque. Looks like I'm not done evaporating after all! olympus mon wrote:You need to hit it with intention to get where you want to be! Can you not do a back-pull into vinegar and save yourself evaporating all that xylene? It's surely better to work with a less obnoxious solvent when evaporating: xylene → vinegar → evaporate to goo → mix in sodium carbonate paste → dry → pull with acetone → evaporate ? Then you can re-use your xylene too. “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. I don't mind so much working with the xylene. The smell is potent but only lingers while the solvent is out evaporating. Also, if I used the method you described above DFZ, would I arrive at the same exact full spectrum product? olympus mon wrote:You need to hit it with intention to get where you want to be! I also use xylene (or toluene/xylene mix) and extract very similar spice - after evaporation it is brownish goo, then same circular crystals develop slowly during few days.
I do backsalting to vinegar and do some additional steps, so this seems typical to xylene or toluene.
You mentioned opaque solvent. It's better to wait till solvent is clear, this take at least 3 hours, often more. Opaqueness is not a sign of extracted alkaloids, but sign of unfinished layer separation.

Also, if I used the method you described above DFZ, would I arrive at the same exact full spectrum product? Good question. Thinking about it, this will eliminate non-alkaloidal, xylene-soluble fractions that are not soluble in whatever acid gets used. Some of them may be acid-sensitive and get changed into something else on acidification. Evaporating the solvent leaves behind whatever non-volatile substances that were pulled into the solvent; if these make a positive contribution to the experience then you'd want to keep them in there. Some analyses were done on 'Jungle spice' from xylene and results showed that it was still overwhelmingly comprised of DMT (IIRC). And a few questions, simply to ponder: What nuances are added by the other, largely unknown components of the crude, evaporated extract? What proportion of non-DMT material is present in the crude goo? How much material is this when consumed in a typical dose of goo? What effects would there be if this material was administered in the absence of DMT? Maybe you're not evaporating xylene the whole time, but it's still better to limit your exposure. This has set me thinking about ghetto tech, closed-cycle evaporation devices for the home hobbyist Perhaps more on that, somewhere, later. “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. Any beautiful Razorblade pics? I'm super curious to see the end result. Also did you smoke jungle alone, or did you do JANGA? All is the one....One is the all.
Math. Simple math looks infinite to me.

Also, if I used the method you described above DFZ, would I arrive at the same exact full spectrum product? These days I just pull using a lot of xylene. I have an outside place to evaporate with a fan without worrying about the xylene smell so why not? A lot more plant material comes through which gives a very different experience than pulling with naptha and precipitation, but those nice white crystals are cool too! Peace
