Saw that first one way back, it's one of my favorites. I've always been a huge fan of The Velvet Underground and Lou Reed's earlier stuff ("Transformer" and "Street Hassle" primarily).

Here's another of my favorite related clips, but this one's Iggy:

Still my favorite of their albums, but "What goes On" is my favorite song of theirs with "Sister Ray" and "Venus in Furs" trailing close behind.

Her solo stuff's great too, especially "Chelsea Girls." Best Dylan cover I've ever heard is on that album.

VU was probably one of the biggest reasons my then-to-be wife and I started seeing each other, which happened to be coming out of a somewhat rough part of my life, partly due to an ex.

Despite the overt heroine and speed references, VU and most of glam and punk rockers that would later follow their lead have always reminded SWIM of coke. VU's definitely one of those bands that makes hard drug use seem like a good idea, especially (and obviously) with Lou Reed at the helm. Probably a good thing you had the copious amounts of weed to fall back on, eh?
