Hello fellow deem peeps. I've been lurking around here for a few months just reading everything I can on pretty much anything I can. Knowledge is power they say. My good friend knew how to extract from MHRB and, needless to say, they were some of the strangest, most profound, and scariest yet most exhilarating times of my life. Unfortunately, he passed away some years ago and I was too stupid to pay attention to what he was doing and why. I didn't take notes, I pretty much took what he was doing for granted. Not he, himself for granted. Just this amazing plant he was able to get some really intense dyes and other spirits out of. And it came from a lot of trial and error. We both had no clue about the nexus. This was some years ago. I have found that reliable MHRB sources are hard to find. I can't imagine ripping people off over a plant. But desperate people do desperate things. I have no ill will I'm just more careful. Also, after a lot of research and hiking on my own with a book devoted to just acacia species known to grow wild where i live, I have found a plot of wild Confusa on the mountainside where I live.

It's part of the USA and it's in the middle of tbe Pacific Ocean but that's all I'm divulging 😅. Anyway, I've done about 4 or 5 extractions with different portions, teks, times, etc. I'm not looking to make the most pretty dye with perfect edges and corners, because the "goo" is fantastic the way it is. I just make a sandwich or my own version of enhanced leaf dye. However, it is hard to handle, it sticks to EVERYTHING and everywhere. I'm positive I've lost half of every yield just from it sticking to my hands, then my pants, then my shoes, etc. I've tried less H²O, more acetic, less acetic and less H²O, salting it before defatting with different amounts of non-iodized salt, and reducing the soup to half its volume before the salting and defatting. I tried STB but that doesn't seem to yield as well as A/B and personally, I rather like making the reduction sauce for my golden ticket beyond the horizon. Can anybody offer advice on a proper Confusa extract? My next idea was to just re-x but even that I'm still a total noob and would have to make a huge extract cause like I said, half of the goo just sticks to everything. I've been doing 50 g and a couple 100 g extracts all with the same results no matter the water volume, 5% white v. volume, sodium hyroxide weight, swirl/settle and pulls. I'm running out of ideas. Maybe freeze precip longer than 24 hours or evap longer before the precip? Please help... thank you in advance 🤙🏻I love this forum/site and I love the community involved with it.
