Having the same IP address means you have the same IP address. That's all it means. It doesn't mean you are the same person.

A while back I got banned from another forum because someone else causing trouble had the same IP address as I did because I was using a public network and everyone there had the same IP address. There were hundreds of people with the same IP address.

Yes, but IP addresses are linked to your general location. Mjshroomer and 'Coatl live on opposite sides of the US (according to their posts). And at least when they both posted on the Shroomery, their IP addresses were consistent with their putative locations.

Unless they've both taken to using proxies, and post via the same proxy, I call BS on the claim that they're posting from the same IP. They are definitely different people.

Alright MagikVenom, I do like Coatl actually. I like the fact that Coatl would talk about things no one else would talk about, things others were afraid to bring up. Coatl is a free thinker, an individual, and doesn't go along with the crowd, and I do admire that. Of course Coatl had a rough edge, but we all do to a certain degree. I'm guilty of that I know.

The one time I got into a really heated argument with Coatl, Coatl turned out to be right in the end. Coatl has some views that are not shared by many and Coatl would still stick to those views no matter how badly others debated them. Some saw that as hard headedness, but I saw it as personal strength, not a bad thing at all.

I hope Coatl isn't taking this ban too seriously and is instead finding other places that are more in line with Coatl's style.

I'm sorry to see Coatl get banned, but Coatl was warned about certain behavior and didn't stop, so what can you do.

I know Coatl isn't taking this ban seriously. I totally agree with you 69ron. She was free thinkin and would confront alot of uncomfortable subjects. But she did have a very abrasive way of talking about certain things. The "gay marraige" thread, the "confessions of a spice junkie" thread, and the link to another forum that ahayoco posted in the "coatl's apology" thread. So I understand what the mods were thinking about when they banned her. But I still feel the benifit of having her around outweigh's her abrasiveness.

I say the being politically correct sucks. Don't be so sensitive, and don't attack people. You'll avoid most problems.

Yeah but without people arguing with her she wouldn`t done what she done. Best is just ignore her as soon as she start. I never have encounter because I knew when to leave. Yesterday I`ve seen that she isn`t only one with big ego here. People pointing on her and judge her but do they judge themselves???

I'm quite aware that 'Coatl also had good things about her but in the end you have to weigh the good against the bad and I think it's important for all here to know that 'Coatl did get many more chances than anyone else would ever had.

When she made bad posts we asked her to remove or change that post, if she didn't or when it was outright bad we would remove or change that post ourself. I think that is the reason why YOU, the other members, didn't see much evidence of her behavior. What other members also didn't see were her aggressive PM exchanges with other members, they were not inspiring the say the least.

In the end, I made the decisions, I didn't like it but I had to do it in the interest of the DMT-Nexus. You can agree with that whether or not but you can also ask yourself why she is banned from other fora besides the DMT-Nexus, I think we took an extreme(!) long time before we got to that point.

Thinking about it now - i was faced with confrontation in lots of threads and pm's - something i highly dislike, perhaps i should have been bigger and just ignored it - perhaps i should have just stayed away a week or so to let things fizzle out but also perhaps i have also been a walkover too long, and this was required for me to break out of my box a little and grow, perhaps this time i said i wont just roll over and be abused and do nothing about it by some random person over the internet - why must i avoid a site i like so much because some else isnt capable of controlling their thoughts and emotions.

For any nonsense i allowed to grow as a side effect of being attacked, im sorry - sticking to the technical stuff again as i should.

damn i hate fights/arguments. - iv never initiated a real fight - iv never had the urge to punch someone in the face and followed thru with it - other than in martial arts where its kinda the point. peacefull dude all-round usually.

...and no doubt: She will treat people ON HER OWN FORUM FAR BETTER THAN SHE TREATED THEM HERE! And that's as it should be...and it also "makes sense" of her banning here. It served HER well (encourages her to have what she really wants), and it serves others well who will enjoy her new forum.

...and also no doubt: She'll find a way to get into trouble over it. She has NO appreciation for the legal ramifications of her actions (indeed, she has no appreciation for the ramifications of ANYTHING she does).
